Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid said TikTok deactivated 4.1 million accounts, and YouTube deactivated 600,000.

She added that the ministry wants other platforms to follow.

The rule, introduced in March, bars under-16s from high-risk services including YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Bigo Live, and Roblox.

It also requires platforms to verify ages, provide channels for reporting misuse, and seek parental consent if a child can communicate with an anonymous user.

Authorities said implementation would be gradual as platform self-assessments continued.

X already set 16 as the minimum age for users in Indonesia, while TikTok and YouTube said they were engaging with the process.
