TikTok joins Snap in social media addiction settlement

TikTok has settled a lawsuit that accused social media firms of deliberately designing their platforms to be addictive, causing harm to users.

The case, involving a 19-year-old plaintiff identified as K.G.M., is among the first of its kind and could influence future legal actions against social media companies.

Snap settled the same case last week, while Meta and YouTube are scheduled for trial, with jury selection beginning soon.

Neither TikTok nor Snap are admitting fault through these settlements, which were reached outside court, though specific terms remain undisclosed.
