TikTok and GoTo Group are launching an ecommerce pilot project after the former announced its US$840 million purchase of most of GoTo’s ecommerce arm Tokopedia.

The trial period will last three months to four months, and regulators will then assess the project’s impact on small businesses in Indonesia. TikTok aims to leverage its 125 million Indonesian user base to boost its ecommerce revenue.
