TikTok is considering a potential investment in the form a joint venture with Tokopedia, the online retail arm of Indonesia’s GoTo Group, Bloomberg reported.

With this move, the social media giant aims to tackle recent regulatory challenges and relaunch its ecommerce service in Indonesia. The discussions reportedly involve plans for TikTok and Tokopedia to work together on a new ecommerce platform.

However, if a deal materializes, it would still be subject to approval by local regulators.
