TikTok CEO urges firms to address AI cybersecurity risks
TikTok CEO Chew Shou Zi urged a better understanding of AI cybersecurity risks at the DBS Asia Future Forward conference in Singapore on October 12.
He said users may give AI agents broad permissions, including access to credit cards, without fully understanding the consequences.
Chew said agentic AI has lowered the cost of producing spam.
He also urged companies to train employees not to share trade secrets or legally privileged information with public chatbots.
TikTok introduced AI-content labels in 2023. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and international partners issued guidance on the secure adoption of agentic AI in May 2026.
Singapore has also issued guidance on the use of personal data in generative AI.
Chew said the world probably overestimates AI in the short term but underestimates it in the long term.
He added that viewers still value authenticity and that there is a “non-zero chance” AI could become superior to humans in some areas.
