TikTok CEO vows to earn trust in markets amid US scrutiny

Chew Shou Zi, CEO of TikTok, addressed his company’s efforts to build trust in the markets it operates during a summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This statement comes as TikTok faces potential regulatory actions in the United States.

Chew said he was determined to earn “trust locally,” adding it “is going to be a big challenge for us, all of us” as the social media industry faced more challenges.

This comes as the US demands TikTok divest from its Chinese owner, ByteDance, over national security worries.

In April, a deadline for divestment was proposed following a decision by President Joe Biden.

The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia is reviewing the case, with a potential resolution expected by December.
