Ticket resale firm StubHub omits co-founder in IPO filing
StubHub, a ticket resale marketplace, has filed for an initial public offering (IPO), igniting debate over the company’s founding history.
The IPO filing lists CEO Eric Baker as the sole founder, excluding any mention of co-founder Jeff Fluhr.
The document claims Baker conceived StubHub in 1999, launched it while at Stanford Business School, and left before eBay’s 2007 acquisition.
It also highlights his role in founding Viagogo, which bought StubHub for US$4 billion in 2020.
However, records show Baker co-founded StubHub with Fluhr, who led the company after Baker was dismissed by the board in 2001 due to strategic disagreements.
A StubHub spokesperson said the filing reflects Viagogo’s lineage, which Baker founded independently.
