Thailand’s richest man to invest $4.3b in data centers, AI infra

Thailand’s richest man, Sarath Ratanavadi, plans to invest up to 140 billion baht (US$4.3 billion) through Gulf Development over the next five years to expand data centers and other infrastructure needed to support the growth of AI.

The company aims to expand data center capacity to as much as 2,000 megawatts from about 200 megawatts it now operates with partners, as demand for AI and cloud services rises.

Its main data center venture, GSA Data Center, is a partnership among Gulf Infrastructure, Singtel’s Nxera, and AIS.

A Gulf subsidiary also provides services for Microsoft’s Thailand cloud region.

Thailand’s 2.87 GW pipeline of under-construction, announced, and planned data center capacity, as of September 2025, suggests Gulf’s target would be large relative to the broader market.
