Thailand-based GetLinks acquires HK edtech firm Xccelerate

GetLinks has acquired Xccelerate, an education technology company focused on digital skills training, to help transform the digital talent landscape in Southeast Asia.

The deal combines GetLinks’ AI-driven job matching tools with Xccelerate’s workforce development programs in AI, big data, cybersecurity, and UX/UI design.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition will increase access to technical training and improve job placement opportunities for professionals across the region.

Both companies will now offer combined services to employers and jobseekers, including career guidance tools, a larger talent pool, and expanded curriculum options.

This move aims to address the region’s demand for digital skills and AI-ready workers.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

GetLinks’ acquisition lacks disclosed financials and scale metrics needed to assess strategic impact

  • The release leaves out deal size, mix of cash or stock, and the scale of both firms. There are no numbers on revenue or learners or placements or enterprise clients, so readers cannot tell if this is a big move or a small tuck-in acquisition (a smaller deal absorbed into an existing business).
  • GetLinks says it has “one of Asia’s largest digital talent databases” but gives no counts. Xccelerate trains people in AI plus Big Data. It also offers Cybersecurity and UX/UI, with no enrollment totals or job placement rates.
  • Governments and companies are funding Southeast Asian AI workforce programs. Employers say 66% would not hire candidates without AI skills, which creates demand for providers with proof of outcomes 12.

Training vendors and cloud providers can target Southeast Asia’s surging enterprise AI upskilling budgets

  • This deal lands as enterprise and public-sector budgets for AI training rise. AI could lift ASEAN-6 output by up to 3% by 2027 1.
  • Providers of training platforms or assessment tools can track 2025 government AI training plans and public tenders in Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Across ASEAN, 54–59% of jobs face high AI impact, which will require targeted upskilling 32.
  • Cloud and data analytics vendors can aim services at edtech firms growing in Southeast Asia. Surveys say 96% of employers plan to invest in upskilling, with 62% of workers expected to need training by 2030 4.
