Thai healthtech HD raises $7.8m, backed by US pharma giant

Thai healthcare startup HD has received US$7.8 million in equity funding, among them from US pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD), marking MSD’s first investment in Asia-Pacific healthtech.

Other investors in the round include SBI Ven Capital, M Venture Partners, FEBE Venture, and Partech Partners.

HD operates HDmall, a platform that connects users with hospitals and clinics for surgeries, health check-ups, and medical services.

It also provides options for cost savings through service aggregation and installment payments.

The startup plans to use the funds to improve its AI capabilities and expand its marketplace.

Since its founding five years ago, HD has onboarded 2,500 hospitals and clinics, offering 30,000 medical services to over 400,000 customers in Thailand and Indonesia.

In 2024, HD launched Jib AI, a chatbot handling 60% of customer interactions, with plans to add features like electronic health record verification and virtual care.
