Thai airports launch new biometric IDs for faster check-ins

Thailand will introduce an automated biometric identification system at six key airports, according to Airports of Thailand.

The system uses facial recognition technology to make boarding easier, available for domestic passengers from November 1 and international travelers from December 1

The biometric system will be installed at Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai airports.

Passengers must provide identification information during check-in, either at the counter or through self-service kiosks.

Biometric data and travel details will be stored digitally and valid for a single journey. This will allow passage through checkpoints without needing physical documents.
