Tesla’s California sales drop for 7 straight quarters

Tesla’s vehicle registrations in California fell by 21.1% in the second quarter of 2025.

This marks the seventh consecutive quarterly decline, according to the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA).

The automaker recorded 41,138 registrations in the state during the April to June period, down from 52,119 in the same timeframe last year.

The Model Y crossover and Model 3 sedan continued to be the top-selling vehicles in the zero-emission and hybrid category in California during the first half of the year.

Tesla also registered 3,622 units of its Cybertruck electric pickup in the state during this period.

Globally, Tesla’s deliveries decreased by 13.5% in the second quarter, indicating a trend of declining sales.

In contrast, hybrid vehicle sales increased by 54% in the first half of 2025, representing 19.2% of the market.
