Tesla taps Intel 14A for Terafab chip production

Tesla plans to use Intel’s 14A manufacturing process to produce chips for its Terafab project.

CEO Elon Musk said the node should be mature by the time production scales, speaking on April 22 during the company’s earnings call.

Musk said 14A “seems like the right move” and pointed to Tesla’s relationship with Intel as a factor in the decision.

Intel shares rose 2.8% in extended trading after the remarks, which may ease some investor concerns about the chipmaker’s next-generation process after earlier yield issues.
