Tesla launched Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised v14 Light, its driver-assistance software, in South Korea on July 10.

The update is rolling out in stages to US-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles with the feature activated, but excludes China-built versions sold in the country.

In South Korea, Tesla’s FSD is treated as a Level 2 system that can handle steering, speed control, lane changes, route planning, and parking. However, drivers must remain attentive and are liable in a crash.

The limited rollout also reflects regulation. US-built vehicles can add new Level 2 features over the air under US safety standards without prior Korean review. China-built Teslas face a different approval process.

That limits the update’s reach. Tesla sold 56,139 vehicles in South Korea in the first half, while separate market data shows 97.6% of registered Teslas in the country were China-built as of end-April.

Nearly all Model 3 and Model Y units supplied to South Korea came from Shanghai.
