Tesla enters Vietnam with new local unit

Tesla has set up Tesla Motors Vietnam Limited Liability Company in Ho Chi Minh City, a business registration filing shows, marking the US electric vehicle maker’s entry into Vietnam.

The unit was registered on September 11 with charter capital of 77.7 billion dong, or about US$3 million.

It is authorized to sell automobiles, vehicle parts, machinery, and equipment, and handle related import, export, and distribution activities.

Tesla’s official store locator shows no sales, service, or charging locations in Vietnam, suggesting this is its first operating presence in the country.

The move brings Tesla into a market where local electric vehicle maker VinFast, based in Vietnam, said it delivered 175,099 EVs in the country in 2025, which the company said was a record.

Vietnam also plans to extend electric vehicle tax incentives, including lower excise tax and registration fees, until 2030.
