Tesla debuts ‘affordable’ Model Y, Model 3 trims

Tesla launched cheaper Model Y and Model 3 trims at US$40,000 and US$37,000 to counter falling sales and rising competition.

The new “Standard” trims offer 321 miles of range and slower acceleration than the Premium models, and omit features like Autosteer and rear touchscreens.

Orders are open now, with deliveries expected between December 2025 and January 2026 in many regions.

The lower-priced Model Y drops the LED lightbar, while Model 3 comes with textile seats, with vegan leather as an optional upgrade.

Tesla canceled its planned US$25,000 EV in 2024, choosing instead to offer cheaper versions of existing models, causing shares to drop 4%.
