Tesla will reportedly cap employee spending on AI tools at US$200 a week from July 6. Spending above that amount will require manager approval.

Grok from xAI, Elon Musk’s AI startup, reportedly will not count toward the cap.

However, Tesla employees reportedly have been slow to adopt Grok, with most still choosing Claude from Anthropic.

For comparison, Anthropic says its Team plan starts at US$25 per member per month for Standard seats.

Premium seats cost US$125 per member per month, with optional usage credits available after included limits are reached.

Tesla has separately said it plans to add Grok to some vehicle infotainment systems in Europe.

Musk also said the chatbot cannot yet control vehicle functions.
