Tesla beats Chinese rivals in highway driving tech test

Tesla has outperformed Chinese rivals in a recent evaluation of assisted driving technologies on highways.

The test, conducted by Dcar and China’s CCTV, assessed level 2 ADAS from over 20 brands across high-risk traffic scenarios.

Tesla’s Model 3 and Model X successfully navigated five out of six scenarios, outperforming 36 other models.

BYD’s Denza Z9GT and Huawei-backed Aito M9 failed three scenarios each, while Xiaomi’s SU7 passed only one.

Elon Musk noted on X that Tesla achieved these results without using local training data, citing US restrictions.

The test followed a fatal crash involving a Xiaomi SU7 in March, prompting Chinese authorities to ban marketing terms like “smart driving” and “autonomous driving.”
