Tencent released Hy4 Preview, a 770 billion-parameter foundation model with a 1 million-token context window, and made its weights available on its cloud platform for integration into products including WorkBuddy and its chatbot.

Tencent said Hy4 Preview outperformed Z.ai’s GLM-5.3 and Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3 in blind engineering tests by Tencent experts, though results on third-party benchmarks varied against domestic rivals such as Alibaba’s Qwen 3.8 Max.

The company also showed demos of game creation, 3D web design, and accounting compliance workflows, as investors watch whether Tencent’s recent AI spending can translate into returns.

China’s rules for open-source and open-weight generative AI models remain unsettled, which may shape how broadly the models are distributed.
