Tencent Q3 revenue rises 15% on AI, cloud expansion

Tencent reported a 15% year-on-year rise in Q3 2025 revenue, reaching 192.9 billion yuan (US$27.1 billion), beating analyst estimates of 189.2 billion yuan (US$26.7 billion).

Operating profit was 63.6 billion yuan (US$9 billion), also ahead of the expected 58 billion yuan (US$8.2 billion).

The company said AI improved its ad targeting and gaming performance during the quarter.

Earlier in 2025, Tencent increased capital expenditure to support AI development and expand its cloud computing business in Europe.

Its cloud services compete with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.

Tencent operates the Hunyuan AI model in China and also uses DeepSeek in some products.

Its shares have risen 56.7% since the start of the year.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Tencent Q3 beat tied to marketing services and gaming

  • Q3 2025 revenue rose 15%, matching Q2’s 15% 12. In Q2, marketing services rose 20%, domestic gaming 17%, international gaming 35% 2.
  • AI gets credit for sharper ads and gameplay, yet its revenue lift is still not disclosed 2.
  • Operating profit hit 63.6 billion yuan versus 58.0 billion expected, a 9.7% beat 1. The mix fits Q2’s 37.5% margin, with higher-margin gaming and ads helping offset the 119% capex surge on AI infrastructure seen in Q2 2.
  • European cloud expansion remains vague. Tencent runs 56 availability zones (physically separate data-center clusters within a region) across 21 regions worldwide but has not named which European regions are live or planned 3.

European ISVs and MSPs can benefit if compliance details emerge

  • The eMAG deal in Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary offers a look at how a local platform uses Tencent Cloud for AI-driven personalization and big data analytics 4.
  • ISVs building SaaS or PaaS can join the partner program 35. Benefits include marketing funding, proof-of-concept support, plus tiered levels from Standard to Platinum based on revenue commitments and certifications.
  • MSPs with consulting firms should verify EU or UK data residency certifications first 5. They also need Tencent Cloud’s General Data Protection Regulation compliance details, which do not appear in current partner materials.
  • Existing ties include HashiCorp with JumpCloud, which opens room for DevOps (developer operations) plus identity vendors to serve multi-cloud strategies (using more than one cloud provider) at European enterprises 6.
