Tencent hits $10b in global gaming sales, tops US rivals
Tencent recorded US$10 billion in global gaming revenue over the past year, outperforming key US competitors amid a broader industry slowdown.
The Shenzhen-based tech giant has increased its direct involvement with acquired studios such as Techland in Poland and Funcom in Norway, moving beyond its traditional role as a passive investor.
Recent releases from Tencent’s portfolio include Path of Exile 2, which reached 6.8 million sales before its full release, as well as Dune: Awakening and Dying Light: The Beast, each with about 2 million sales, according to Sensor Tower data.
In Q3 2025, Tencent’s gaming sales hit a record 63.6 billion yuan (US$9 billion), with overseas revenue rising 43% year-on-year.
Tencent has also facilitated collaboration between its studios, such as Sumo Group in the UK working with Canada’s Digital Extremes to accelerate content development for Warframe.
