Tencent Cloud, U Mobile team up on 5G, AI in Malaysia
Tencent Cloud signed a memorandum of understanding with U Mobile, a Malaysia-based telecom operator, in Kuala Lumpur on September 14 to explore 5G and AI solutions for enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises.
The companies said they will combine U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network, enterprise customer base, and Enterprise Innovation Platform with Tencent Cloud’s AI and cloud capabilities to develop, test, and demonstrate applications.
Successful use cases could later move into pilot deployments, commercialization, and sales plans.
Tencent Cloud said the agreement is its first official AI-focused partnership with a Malaysian telecom provider.
The partnership will also include workshops, demonstrations, innovation sessions, and pilot showcases for businesses, startups, developers, academic institutions, and technology partners.
The deal adds to Tencent Cloud’s push in Malaysia after it announced a cloud region in the country.
It also follows U Mobile’s launch of Malaysia’s second 5G network, and its separate AI partnership with OpenAI.
