Tencent Cloud backs Bookme’s Saudi expansion
Tencent Cloud said in Riyadh on September 8 that it was working with Bookme, a Pakistan-founded travel and e-ticketing platform expanding in Saudi Arabia and other markets.
Tencent Cloud will provide cloud infrastructure and technical support for Bookme’s consumer platforms and embedded booking services.
Bookme said it had served more than 15 million customers.
It also offered its booking platform through application programming interfaces (APIs) in a mini-app format across more than 40 platforms.
The companies said the collaboration would help Bookme manage demand spikes and support its growing travel inventory and partner integrations across markets.
Bookme previously raised investment from Lakson Venture Capital, while Tencent Cloud expanded its infrastructure footprint in the Middle East.
For its Saudi expansion, Saudi Arabia’s personal data law sets obligations on cross-border data transfers, security measures, and controller-processor relationships relevant to cloud hosting and customer data handling.
