Some sellers on the ecommerce platform Temu are reportedly using counterfeit postage labels to evade shipping fees, causing significant financial losses for US Postal Service (USPS).

These fake labels, costing around 60 cents, are openly sold on Chinese social media.

Sellers, facing high shipping costs, use these labels to cut expenses. One seller admitted to purchasing up to 2,000 counterfeit labels daily at just 68 cents each, far cheaper than legitimate postage.

The labels, printed and attached at US warehouses, mimic real shipping labels with barcodes and tracking numbers.

The USPS Postal Inspection Service is actively working to combat this fraud.

Temu said that counterfeit labels are “strictly prohibited” and warns sellers of account suspension or legal action.

However, some merchants feel pressured by competition to use them.
