Temu moves forward with S Korea entry plans: sources
Chinese ecommerce platform Temu is progressing with its entry plans into the South Korean market, according to industry sources.
Since late 2024, Temu, operated by PDD Holdings Inc., has been hiring Korean employees for various roles, including human resources, administration, public relations, marketing, and logistics.
The company is also planning to set up an integrated logistics system for local product delivery.
Currently, domestic partners like CJ Logistics Corp. and Hanjin Logistics handle its deliveries.
Temu launched its Korean-language platform in July 2023 and established Whaleco Korea LLC in February 2024, though it has yet to hire local staff.
As of January 2025, Temu ranked third in South Korea’s ecommerce sector with 8.23 million monthly active users (MAUs), behind Coupang (33.02 million) and AliExpress (9.12 million).
A company spokesperson declined to comment on its recruitment and market plans.
