Temu expands brand monitoring to 15,000 brands
Temu said on July 14 that it increased the number of brands covered by its intellectual property monitoring program to 15,000, 3x the level a year earlier.
In its 2026 Intellectual Property Protection Report, Temu said more than 40% of new seller applicants were rejected last year after failing identity verification. It also closed more than 16,000 seller stores for repeated intellectual property infringements.
Products are screened before and after listing using a detection database containing millions of images and keywords.
The update comes as Temu faces scrutiny in Europe. In July 2025, the European Commission said under the Digital Services Act that Temu was failing to prevent illegal products on its platform, with potential penalties of up to 6% of annual global revenue.
Temu previously expanded the number of brands it actively scans for counterfeits from 3,000 to more than 5,000. A consumer-protection action by European Union authorities is also ongoing.
