Tech companies have cut more than 73,000 jobs across 95 firms in 2026, versus 124,201 in all of 2025, according to Layoffs.fyi.

Recent layoffs at Meta, Snap, Oracle, and Atlassian have been linked to AI and broader restructuring.

Meta plans to cut about 8,000 jobs, or 10% of its global workforce, from May 20, while Snap, the US parent of Snapchat, said it will eliminate 1,000 jobs and more than 300 open roles.

Oracle will cut about 30,000 jobs globally including 10,000 in India, while Atlassian, an Australian software company, cut about 1,600 roles, or 10% of staff.
