US tech giants delay India data center deals over trade tensions
US tech firms are delaying decisions to lease large data centers in India as trade tensions escalate between Washington and New Delhi.
Hyperscalers such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google currently account for about 30% of India’s data center demand, with Anarock Capital projecting their share will rise to 35%.
New data center agreements have reportedly been on hold for over two months, with companies waiting to see how the situation unfolds.
India’s data center capacity is projected to grow from 1.2 gigawatts to over 3.5 gigawatts by 2030, but negotiations have become slower and more complex.
