Tata Group unit buys Chinese iPhone supplier for $100m: sources
Titan Engineering and Automation Ltd (TEAL), a Tata Group company, has acquired the India unit of Chinese industrial firm Justech Precision for nearly US$100 million, according to sources cited by CNBC.
The deal, finalized in August, was advised by HSBC Bank and HDFC Bank.
Justech Precision, based in Kunshan, China, supplies equipment to Apple and its main assembler Foxconn.
Justech’s India arm, established in 2019 in Tamil Nadu, gives Tata Electronics more manufacturing capacity as Apple increases iPhone production in India.
Earlier this year, Tata Electronics reportedly bought a 60% stake in Pegatron’s India operations, which also assemble iPhones, according to Reuters.
