Taiwan’s Wistron posts strong H1, approves new spending

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Wistron said on August 4 that its first-half 2026 consolidated revenue reached NT$1.742 trillion (US$53.8 billion) and profit after tax hit NT$24.458 billion (US$755 million).

The company also said its board approved new spending in Taiwan, the US, and Vietnam.

In the second quarter, Wistron reported consolidated revenue of NT$895.443 billion (US$27.6 billion), profit after tax of NT$14.827 billion (US$458 million), and operating income of NT$33.447 billion (US$1.03 billion).

The board approved NT$10.5 billion (US$324 million) for machinery and equipment at Wistron facilities in Hsinchu and Kaohsiung.

It also approved US$53 million to expand AI operations at two wholly owned US subsidiaries and a US$40 million capital injection into wholly owned subsidiary Wistron Property (Vietnam) Co. Ltd.

In addition, the company approved about NT$4 billion (US$123 million) to establish an AI computing center in the Wistron Building at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University’s Tainan campus, and a regulatory filing to issue up to 250 million new common shares as global depositary receipts.

The Tainan facility will support Wistron’s internal AI computing needs and provide computing resources for AI research and education through donated computing power.
