Wistron, a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer and Nvidia supplier, opened a US$700 million plant in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 21, to build Nvidia AI systems in the US amid rising demand for AI infrastructure.

The site is making Nvidia’s GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip.

Wistron said it would also make the next-generation Vera Rubin Superchip, which follows Grace Blackwell in Nvidia’s roadmap.

Wistron mainly builds systems for hyperscale data centers rather than fabricating chips.

The plant is part of Nvidia’s 2025 plan to produce up to US$500 billion of AI infrastructure in the US over four years.

That includes Blackwell chip production at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. in Phoenix, packaging and testing in Arizona, and supercomputer assembly in Texas with Foxconn and Wistron.

Nvidia said production at the Fort Worth plant was expected to scale this year to tens of thousands of computing boards a month.

It also said the site had created more than 500 jobs and was on track to reach 1,000 employees by year-end.
