Taiwan’s $609m cuts risk its AI, semiconductor industries
Taiwan’s science and tech ministry has warned that funding for key industries – including semiconductors, AI, and aerospace – may be cut by NT$20 billion (US$609 million) next year.
This follows recent legislation passed by opposition parties that reallocates central government funds to local municipalities.
The economic affairs ministry has also raised concerns, indicating that these cuts could hinder Taiwan’s partnerships with global tech firms such as Micron, AMD, and Nvidia, which have participated in government-supported tech projects in Taiwan.
