ASMedia Technology, a Taiwanese chip designer, said after its annual meeting in Taipei that it is developing high-speed data transmission chips for AI servers, edge AI devices, robots, and automobiles.

The company aims to lift revenue to US$800 million by 2030 from US$400 million last year.

The company specializes in interface chips such as USB, PCIe, SATA, switch controllers, and application-specific integrated circuits, in an expansion beyond its traditional PC connectivity business.

ASMedia said its acquisition of Techpoint, completed this month for about US$390 million, adds high-definition video connectivity technology used in security systems and automotive infotainment.

Company president Lin Che-wei said automobile-related chips are expected to contribute about 15% to 20% of revenue by 2030.

He also said ASMedia is accelerating development of PCIe Gen 6, Gen 7, USB4, embedded USB, and package-switch products for AI PCs and AI servers.

ASMedia said global PC shipments are projected to fall 15% to 20% this year because of higher dynamic random-access memory prices and central processing unit shortages.

That outlook is steeper than IDC downside scenarios of 4.9% to 8.9% declines tied to memory shortages and higher prices.
