Taiwan to assist tech firms in Mexico amid US tariff changes

Taiwan’s government announced plans to help companies operating in Mexico, like Foxconn Technology Group and Inventec, in adapting to new US tariffs.

These tariffs, imposed by President Donald Trump, include a 25% surcharge on imports from neighboring countries.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs will assist in addressing supply chain disruptions, potentially by shifting production lines or exploring new investment options.

Foxconn and Inventec, major players in electronics, producing AI servers and components in Mexico for the US market.

Following the tariff announcement, Foxconn’s stock fell by 9.25% and Inventec’s by 8.5%.

According to Taiwan’s representative office, Taiwan’s investments in Mexico have totaled US$4 billion, creating about 70,000 jobs since 1999.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs plans to send delegations to SelectUSA events to help Taiwanese firms build stronger ties with US authorities for better supply chain partnerships.
