The Taiwan stock market closed higher on Mar.17, driven by gains in AI-related shares, amid optimism that AI chipmaker Nvidia Corp. will present positive developments at its upcoming GPU Technology Conference.

The benchmark Taiex index rose by 150.58 points, or 0.69%, finishing at 22,118.63, with a turnover of NT$301.88 billion (US$9.15 billion).

Electronics shares were a key factor in the index’s increase.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) saw a rise of 1.15%, contributing approximately 88 points to the Taiex’s gain with a closing price of NT$970.00 (US$31.80).
