Taiwan records $37.2b foreign inflows in 2024, led by tech

Foreign institutional investors directed a record US$37.2 billion into Taiwan in 2024, according to the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC).

This marks the highest amount since data tracking began in 2011.

The new figure surpasses the US$29.478 billion recorded in 2023, driven by a 28.47% rise in the benchmark Taiex index.

In December alone, there was a net inflow of US$5.68 billion, reversing a net outflow of US$1.297 billion in November.

From 2011 to 2024, total net inflows from foreign investors reached US$282.69 billion.

Investments in Taiwan’s technology sector, particularly in companies like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), MediaTek Inc., and ASE Technology Holding Co., have driven this growth.
