Two senior officials from Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) will visit Washington to discuss potential tariffs Taiwan-made semiconductor chips, which could reach up to 100%.
Economics minister Kuo Jyh-huei announced that deputy economics minister Cynthia Kiang and Chen Pei-li, deputy director general of the industrial development administration, will lead the talks.
The discussions will focus on Taiwan’s compliance with intellectual property agreements, following Trump’s remarks about tariffs ranging from 25% to 100% to boost US chip production.
Kuo highlighted Taiwan’s strong partnership with US companies, citing Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) as a key contributor in the semiconductor industry.
