🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Revenue growth may mask margin pressures across Taiwan’s tech supply chain

  • TWSE-listed companies posted 2025 sales of NT$47.6 trillion, up 13.8% year over year. The figures omitted full-year profitability and margin trends during this AI-led jump.
  • Computer and peripheral revenue rose 35.8% to NT$10.7 trillion, while semiconductors climbed 21% to NT$6.6 trillion. Taiwan’s EMS and ODM sector finished 2025 with “sharply bifurcated performance” 1. Some firms surged while others lagged.
  • Past cycles suggest revenue concentration in low-margin AI server assembly and components can squeeze profitability. Aggregate after-tax net income and operating margins would answer whether Taiwan’s tech firms captured value or just added volume.

AI server supply chain mapping reveals investment and partnership targets

  • Cloud service providers watch AI demand in semiconductors and servers. Data center owners track the same trend. Enterprise hardware vendors and investors can use it to find fast-growing Taiwan partners or targets.
  • DIGITIMES Research, an industry research firm focused on Asian electronics supply chains, says Taiwan holds up to 90% of AI server manufacturing capacity by 2025 2. Key players include Quanta Computer (a leading server and notebook ODM). Delta Electronics (a power plus thermal management supplier) is another. Asia Vital Components, or AVC (a maker of cooling modules and fans), rounds out the group.
  • Use this map to build partner and investment pipelines. Operators can lock in capacity. Investors can reach companies taking a bigger share of the AI infrastructure buildout before valuations catch up.
