Taiwan fines Singapore’s fintech firm over China ties
The Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan has fined Singapore-registered financial technology firm Any Technology Pvt (AnyTech) US$65,764 for violating investment regulations related to national security.
Minister J.W. Kuo announced the penalty during a legislative session on Mar. 18, 2025.
Reports indicate that AnyTech, which is backed by Chinese capital, established a subsidiary in Taiwan. The firm was involved in upgrading the core credit card system of Cathay United Bank.
Taiwan’s regulations prohibit investments from entities affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party due to concerns about access to sensitive technologies.
