During a legislative meeting in Taipei, Taiwanese central bank governor Yang Chin-long said the United States is unlikely to impose tariffs on Taiwan’s advanced chips and ICT products due to their strategic importance.

These chips are designed by US firms and manufactured in Taiwan.

Taiwan might stay on the United States currency manipulation watchlist due to its growing trade surplus with the US.

This surplus developed amid past trade tensions between the US and China.
