Taiwan chip testing firm opens first overseas plant in Singapore

King Yuan Electronics, or KYEC, a Taiwan-based semiconductor testing company, opened its first overseas testing facility in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore, on May 22.

The move comes as it expands capacity for international customers amid AI-driven chip demand.

The site includes a cleanroom of more than 109,000 sq ft and came from an investment of nearly S$100 million (US$78.2 million), with the company expecting it to create over 300 jobs across engineering and management.

The Singapore plant will help KYEC work more closely with clients as geopolitical uncertainty and broader economic shifts push chip firms to diversify their supply chains, the company said.
