Taiwan chip supplier Unimicron seeks up to $1.4b offering

Unimicron Technology Corp., a Taiwan-based supplier of chip substrates and printed circuit boards, is seeking as much as US$1.4 billion through a sale of 50 million global depositary shares priced at US$26.96 to US$27.76 each, according to deal terms.

The price range represents a 3% to 6% discount to Unimicron’s Taipei closing price of NT$917 (US$28.60) on July 6.

Unimicron plans to use the proceeds to buy raw materials in foreign currencies. The terms also include a 90-day lock-up for the company, certain directors and executive officers, and some large shareholders.

The share sale comes amid investor enthusiasm for companies tied to the AI boom.

Advanced packaging capacity has also remained tight as AI server designs shift toward ultra-high-density architectures.

Citigroup is the sole global coordinator, and Morgan Stanley is a joint bookrunner.
