Taiwan chip material firm raises prices 30% for AI servers
Fulltech Fiber Glass, a Taiwanese maker of glass fiber cloth for circuit boards, has reportedly raised prices by up to 30% for new orders starting July 1, as AI server demand lifts costs across the semiconductor materials supply chain.
Glass fiber cloth is used in copper-clad laminates, substrates, and printed circuit boards.
In AI servers, demand is rising for advanced material grades with lower loss and low thermal expansion.
These premium grades are critical to support faster connections between graphics processing units, high-bandwidth memory, and switches. The material accounts for about 19% of copper-clad laminate costs, according to TrendForce.
TrendForce said Fulltech is one of several qualified second-source suppliers of specialty glass fiber cloth.
The pressure could spread downstream. TrendForce notes that BT substrate quotes typically respond about one quarter after T-glass price increases. Meanwhile, Ajinomoto build-up film substrate quotes usually react about two quarters later.
