Taiwan aims for global tech edge with 10 AI projects by 2026
Taiwan President Lai Ching-te announced plans for 10 new AI infrastructure initiatives to strengthen the country’s position in global technology.
Starting in 2026, the projects will target smart applications, quantum technology, silicon photonics, and robotics, aiming to make Taiwan one of the world’s top five computing centers and reinforce its industrial base.
Premier Cho Jung-tai said the plan will involve significant investment and focus on core technologies.
Lai highlighted Taiwan’s strong economic performance, including a record-high stock index and a 5.1% growth forecast by the Asian Development Bank.
He said Taiwan will continue to deepen international partnerships and address trade issues, including with the US.
Securities analyst Boryi Chien noted that Lai’s strategies could attract more investment in AI-related, aerospace, networking, and defense technology sectors.
