Swiggy pilots travel concierge, lifestyle management service

Swiggy has launched a new travel and lifestyle concierge app named Crew. The app is currently in a pilot phase and available by invite-only.

It is developed by Bundl Technologies Private Limited, Swiggy’s parent company.

Crew offers services like dinner reservations, travel arrangements, and premium gift sourcing. It is accessible on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

This is Swiggy’s second attempt to target premium customers.

Last year, it introduced a subscription-based concierge service called Rare Life, which did not evolve into a standalone app.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Systematic diversification strategy mirrors global tech platform evolution

Swiggy’s launch of Crew represents the company’s eighth distinct service beyond its core food delivery business, reflecting a calculated “house of brands” approach to growth.

The company has introduced Pyng (professional services marketplace), Assure (B2B restaurant supplies), Rare Club (premium experiences), Instamart (quick commerce), and Snacc (quick meals) all within the past year, demonstrating a rapid diversification strategy1.

This pattern follows the evolution of successful global tech platforms that expanded from single-service models to comprehensive ecosystems, similar to how Grab evolved from ride-hailing to multiple services across Southeast Asia.

Swiggy’s diversification comes amid financial context showing 45% YoY operating revenue growth to INR 4,410 Cr in Q4 FY25, alongside a 95% YoY increase in losses to INR 1,081.2 Cr1. This suggests the company is prioritizing growth and market expansion over immediate profitability.

2️⃣ Targeting the luxury segment reveals untapped market potential

Swiggy’s move into premium concierge services taps into a rapidly growing global market projected to expand from USD 0.89 billion in 2024 to USD 1.42 billion by 2033, with a CAGR of 6.1%2.

The company’s previous experiment with Rare Club targeted the top 0.1% of wealthy professionals with a INR 50,000 annual membership fee, offering exclusive experiences like Coldplay concert tickets with backstage access and hard-to-get restaurant reservations3.

This high-end positioning represents a significant departure from Swiggy’s mass-market food delivery roots, indicating the company sees substantial revenue potential in serving affluent consumers with high-margin personalized services.
