Swiggy faces $885k tax demand over alleged violations
The Maharashtra government has issued a tax demand of 7.59 crore rupees (US$885,000) to food delivery platform Swiggy for alleged violations of professional tax deductions from employee salaries.
Tax authorities claim that Swiggy has not complied with the Maharashtra State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings & Employments Act, 1975.
Swiggy plans to challenge the order, indicating it believes the demand is unjustified.
