Swiggy expands 15-min food delivery to more Indian cities

Swiggy has expanded its 15-minute food delivery service, SNACC, to two cities in India, Noida and Gurugram. This follows its launch in Bengaluru earlier this year.

The SNACC app offers a variety of food and beverages, including snacks, breakfast items, desserts, tea, coffee, and cold drinks.

The app currently shows a message about ongoing expansion when users try to add addresses from cities outside its operational areas.

SNACC was introduced to meet the growing demand for quick food deliveries in urban settings, focusing on densely populated areas and young consumers in corporate hubs.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Quick food delivery sparks a multi-app ecosystem in India’s food tech

The emergence of dedicated quick-delivery apps represents a significant strategy shift in India’s food delivery market, where companies are creating specialized platforms rather than consolidating services.

Swiggy’s expansion of SNACC to Noida and Gurugram follows a pattern established when Zepto first launched its dedicated Cafe app in 2022, followed by Zomato’s Blinkit introducing Bistro for 10-minute deliveries 1.

This reflects global digital product trends where companies are unbundling services into purpose-built apps to optimize for specific use cases rather than creating all-in-one platforms.

Swiggy’s approach contrasts with its earlier strategy where it had consolidated services under one platform, now pursuing a multi-app ecosystem that includes both its main app and specialized services like SNACC 2.

The rapid conceptualization and deployment of SNACC, developed in mid-December 2024 and launched within a month, demonstrates how competitive pressure is accelerating product development cycles in the food delivery space 3.

2️⃣ Ultra-fast food delivery targets urban professional hubs with distinct operational models

Swiggy’s strategic expansion into Noida and Gurugram specifically targets “corporate hubs with a large urban population, especially youth,” revealing how quick commerce is being positioned for time-starved professionals 4.

Different operational models are emerging to solve the 15-minute delivery challenge: while SNACC operates from centralized locations, Zepto utilizes its own dark store cafes, and Zomato partners with restaurants within a precise 2-kilometer radius 5.

This expansion aligns with the substantial market projection that India’s food delivery market will grow from ₹5.5 trillion to ₹9 trillion by decade’s end according to Bain & Co research, driving intense competition for market share 1.
