Swedish mental health startup Mindler to acquire UK healthtech firm
Swedish startup Mindler has acquired UK-based Ieso Digital Health for an undisclosed sum to strengthen its position in online therapy.
The acquisition gives Mindler access to National Health Service contracts in England and Scotland.
Founded in 2018 and backed by Luminar Ventures, Mindler operates in the Nordics and the Netherlands.
Earlier this month, the company raised €15 million (US$14.4 million) in equity and debt funding led by Claret Capital Partners, with several investors joining.
Mindler previously acquired Finnish startup Medified and UK healthcare provider the Sandbox.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ NHS workforce shortages create acquisition opportunities for digital health companies
Mindler’s acquisition timing aligns with significant staffing challenges across UK mental health services.
The Care Quality Commission found a 9.9% vacancy rate across NHS mental health services, with 40% of patients waiting too long for care and one-third waiting three months or more for first treatment1.
These workforce gaps create substantial demand for alternative delivery methods, making existing NHS contracts particularly valuable for companies like Mindler.
The acquisition gives Mindler immediate access to established NHS relationships that would typically take years to develop from scratch, while helping address the system’s capacity constraints through digital delivery.
This reflects how healthcare workforce shortages often drive the adoption of technology solutions that can scale beyond traditional staffing limitations.
2️⃣ Digital health consolidation accelerates as market matures rapidly
The online therapy market is experiencing significant growth alongside industry consolidation, with market size projected to jump from $2.01 billion in 2024 to $2.58 billion in 20252.
This growth attracts both venture funding—like Mindler’s recent €15 million raise—and strategic acquisitions as companies race to capture market share in a rapidly expanding sector.
