Swedish EV truck startup Einride raises $113m ahead of public debut
Einride and and its SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) Legato have raised US$113m ahead of its planned listing later this year.
The funding will support their proposed business combination, valuing Einride at US$1.4 billion before the financing.
Investors have committed about US$213 million in financing, including the US$113 million PIPE and a prior crossover financing of about US$100 million.
The financing was provided by both new and existing investors, including an unnamed West Coast–based global asset manager and Stockholm-based EQT Ventures.
The transaction is expected to deliver roughly US$333 million in gross proceeds, including Legato’s cash-in-trust, before redemptions and expenses.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Einride’s public debut rests on a lower valuation and signed contracts
- The merger announcement in November 2025 put the pre-money equity value at $1.8 billion. The current deal prices it at $1.4 billion 1.
- Einride is pairing with Legato, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) sponsor. Legato’s previous two companies now trade below the original $10 deal price, which adds to the usual de-SPAC investment risk 2.
- Einride runs about 200 electric vehicles. It reports $65 million in contracted annual recurring revenue (ARR) from signed customer contracts, including GE Appliances 1.
The deal brings tighter standards for autonomous trucking and SPACs
- The transaction marks a more cautious stretch for SPACs, especially in transportation tech where Nikola and Canoo have struggled 2.
- After the speculative SPAC wave of 2021, investors are pressing for working economics. Einride brings a reset valuation plus contracted ARR rather than long-range forecasts 1.
- Einride sells a full-stack logistics service that pairs software with a managed fleet. Many rivals focus on autonomous driving systems for other manufacturers instead 1.
- Permits for cab-less trucks on public roads in the U.S. and Europe give Einride a regulatory edge that competitors may find hard to match 3.
