Swedish electric and autonomous trucking company Einride has agreed to acquire Flipturn, a US EV charging software startup, in an all-stock deal valued at US$38 million.

The transaction is expected to close this month.

The deal adds software to Einride’s North American charging operations.

It connects with EV chargers through the Open Charge Point Protocol, an industry standard for charger-management system communication.

Flipturn’s software monitors charging infrastructure health and uses data including battery levels, driving history, routes, on-site solar, and energy storage.

Flipturn was founded in 2022, has 17 employees, and has raised US$15.5 million in venture capital.

Einride said Flipturn will continue operating with the same team after the acquisition.

The deal adds to Einride’s business, which is better known for its cabless autonomous truck designs but is currently centered on a fleet of 200 heavy-duty electric trucks.

Einride operates those trucks for customers including Heineken, PepsiCo, Carlsberg Sweden, and Amazon.
